We got out of that canyon and out to the Highway in twenty mins. That was a hell of a ride. It took the rest of our group 2 hours to get out, but then again they were trying to get my daughter and her xj out of there. THe scariest part of the ride was on the highway. The motorcycle rider told me to keep going straight to the ER. He was begining to suffocate. He said he felt like his lungs were filling up with blood. He was pretty jacked up. So pushing the T-Rex with only 8lbs of pressure in the tires made it a scary ride. We made it to the ER and they Life Flighted him to Salt Lake. He made a full recovery. The T-Rex did not fair so well. We were pushing it so hard and fast to get out of that canyon that we sustained some damage. We got it ariborn twice on the way out. We launched it on the waterfall obstacle. So afterwards I had one cracked rim, two bent rock rings on two other rims, one bent tie rod and Hydralic ram, and a broken spring. But hey it did the job, it was worth it. The rider just kept telling me to hurry. He was worried and so was I , I really did not want a dead body in my truck. When we got to the ER they though that besides a flailed chest, broken ribs, and possible puctured lung that he might have broken his back. Luckily he was not as bad off as we feared, his spine was only brusied, I hope that did not happen form the truck ride...LOL. He made a full recovery and is out rideing his motorcycle again.
He and his family thanked me later and he said that he knew that the T-Rex was the only turck that could get him out in time. That was nice of him to say.
Man, What an adventure that was. My kids were in the back seat the whole time and I scared the crap out of them and my wife, who as you know is my co-pilot and she is normally used to extreme wheeling.

I have the annual Top Truck Challange in my collection from about 1995 on, including the most recent competition. The trucks have progressed tremendously and the rigs that compete anymore are extremely impressive machines. The first year of the competition was won by a CJ7 with either a SMB or an AMC 360, automatic, AMC 20 and Dana 44 on a set of 33's. It would get eaten alive on todays TTC course!

Yes most of the machines are getting impressive, but alot from last year were these big mud bogging rigs that had huge tires, 54 and up. THey did great in the mud bog, but they were poor performers everywhere else. To win that challenge you need a well rounded rig and you need to be consistently up in the top 5 perfromers. When I competed the street events killed me. I got 8th place inthe quarter mile with a time of 17.8 and 9th in the braking and such. Those scores killed me.

You must have some seriously deep snow to be snowed in with a rig like that!

Actually not really snowed in, just 4 feet in the last week, but I need to replace a seal on my middle rockwell because it is leaking profusly, and it is just too cold out there to work on. I am waiting for a break in the weather so that I can get out there and do some maintenance on the axles. Nothing is worse that cold hands, cold parts, and cold grease
I love wheeling in snow. The T-rex does good in snow, and I have chains for all six wheels.
